No ano passsado, em Bali, aprendi que o tecido xadrez branco e negro - Saput Poleng - tinha um significado sagrado, representando o nosso lado espiritual e a "colisão" entre o bom e o mau, o preto e o branco. Enrolado em estatuas, árvores e usado pelas pessoas em cerimónias espirituais, tem uma conotação sagrada.
Quando vi este padrão em calções, túnicas e vestidos, não resisti em dar-lhe ênfase num registo minimalista, a pensar nesta semana de Verão em plena Primavera.
Saput Poleng is the checked white and black pattern that has a sacred meaning in Bali: you can see it wrapped around in trees and statues where it is believed that a spirit lives. I saw so much of this fabric when in Bali, last year, so when it started showing in Spring- Summer collections, I couldn't resist but to give it a minimal twist, perfect for this Summer week during the Spring season.
